Partnership to Clean Up Port Phillip Bay |
|
|
Some of Melbourne’s best known institutions have joined representatives from the fields of science, education and industry and all three tiers of government in a forum to clean up Port Phillip Bay.
Co-convened with the Committee for Melbourne, the first forum has been held to develop a long-term plan to make Port Phillip Bay the cleanest urban waterway in the Southern Hemisphere by 2022.
Forum members will now develop proposals to deliver on the plan and will report back by May.

1. Conduct a comprehensive review of the Bay and the threats it faces
2. Consider expanding the role of the official Bay Keeper to each local area
3. Explore ways to teach the community about the extensive marine life in the Bay
4. Engage local community groups to assist with improving the Bay, including reducing litter
5. Identify the infrastructure options for addressing stormwater flows
